Bookings and appointments

Dr Francis’ and Dr Rea’s diaries are managed by Sasha external to the hospital, and only she has access to their live diaries, however you can book appointments via the Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital and Nuffield Central Bookings. Please contact Sasha to book your consultations and treatment.

Dr Francis’ outpatient clinics are on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Mondays of the month and he holds telephone clinics on Friday mornings.

Dr Rea’s outpatient clinics are every Tuesday evening from 6.30pm, other than on the 2nd Tuesday of every month his clinic starts at 3pm.

Onward referrals and investigations

If your Consultant recommends onward referral and/or investigations this will be detailed in your clinic letter. You will be contacted regarding booking any additional appointments.

Outpatients

Our Consultants see patients for initial assessment in the Outpatients Department at the Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital, Hatherley Lane, Cheltenham. If you book any outpatient injections or minor procedures these will be carried out in the same Outpatients Department at the Cheltenham Nuffield.

Inpatients and coming into hospital

Dr Francis and Dr Rea hold ad hoc theatre lists at the Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital. If a daycase procedure in theatre has been recommended we will contact you regarding the arrangements. Once you have been booked in, the hospital Bookings Team will contact you regarding preassessment and admission details.

Payments and invoicing

Dr Francis’ Self Pay Patients: You will be invoiced following any appointments by Dr Francis’ billing company, MedServ.

Dr Rea’s Self Pay Patients: Dr Rea operates a ‘payment at the time of booking’ policy so payment for all consultations, treatment, injections and procedures are taken by card payment over the phone with Sasha or via payment link.

Insured Patients: Your Consultant will invoice your insurer via MedServ (billing company). If there is any shortfall or excess payment that you are liable for, please expect notification and invoices for payment from MedServ.

Consultation Fees:

Our Consultants’ fees for initial consultation will not exceed £250 and fees for any follow-up consultation will not exceed £200. These estimates are correct as at 31.1.2026. Should you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice, a cancellation fee of 50% of the appointment cost will be charged. No tests, investigations or treatment is included with your consultation. The consultation fee is the fee charged for the time with your Consultant.

Investigations:

Following your consultation you may need certain investigations (such as blood tests or imaging i.e. MRI scan) to help your Consultant diagnose your condition. If the test is undertaken by the hospital, the fees for the investigations will be determined and charged by the hospital and charged to you separately to your Consultant’s fees.  If there are any fees which your Consultant will charge in relation to any investigations they advise you to have, they will let you know what their fees will be.

Procedures:

Once you have been assessed and injections/procedures have been recommended you will be provided with a self pay quote. If you have not received this or would like to find out the cost of any particular injections/procedure please contact us to request a quote.

Treatment Fees:

Subject to assessment and if clinically appropriate your Consultant may offer you outpatient injections during your consultation, which will involve additional Consultant fees and a hospital fee. If you would prefer to receive a quote for the recommended treatment you will need to return for a second appointment to have the said treatment, following receipt of your quote if you are happy to go ahead. If you decide to go ahead with treatment during a consultation please be aware that you will be charged for this additional service.  All treatment administered during a consultation is chargeable and is not included in the consultation fee.

Hospital fees:

Please note that all consultations, appointments (in clinic and via telephone), treatments/procedures and post procedure reviews are chargeable. For all treatment there is always two bills. You will be billed by your Consultant for their fee (i.e. for providing the service of performing the treatment) and you will be billed by the hospital for their fees (covering facilities, equipment, consumables, injectables, chaperones and nurse assistance etc), so please always expect two invoices.

Private Medical Insurance:

If you have private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation, to check the terms of your policy, particularly the level and type of outpatient cover you have, including any reimbursement limits on individual consultation fees.

Please note that I am no longer fee assured with BUPA so there will either be a shortfall or full fee to pay if you are insured with BUPA.

We are legally obliged to tell you if we have any financial interests in the Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital or any equipment there. Dr Bill Rea and Dr Jon Francis confirm THEY DO NOT have any such financial interests.
